PETER STUART GILSTER obituary

Mr. Peter S. Gilster, a 50-year Kirkwood resident passed away on 5-19-2019.  Born 12-10-39 to John and Ruth Robinson Gilster of Chester Illinois.

1962  Received B.S. in engineering from Univ. of Illinois

1965  J.D. in Law from Univ. of Illinois.

1965-1967 Army, Capt., Redstone Arsenal, Nike Missile Guidance System and F4 Phantom antenna systems.

Acquired private pilot’s, multi engine, instrument and instructor licenses with over 2000 flight hours.  Owned a Cessna 170 and co-owned several other planes.

1967- Began intellectual-properties law practice at Koenig, Senniger, Powers & Leavit.  Joined esteemed friend Ralph Kalish Sr. at Kalish & Gilster.

 Mr. Gilster was a member of the Missouri and Illinois Bar Association, admitted before the Supreme Court, lectured at Ralla in patent law, wrote patent journal articles and was a certified mediator. He retired as the Senior Patent Counsel at Greensfelder, Hempker & Gale.

 Mr. Gilster was member/director of the Hispanic Society of St. Louis.  Member of the South County Sports Car Club.

 He was an avid short-wave radio operator since high school, and played the flute and piccolo in the marching band at University of Illinois. Joined the Huntsville, Alabama Symphony.  Became a charter member of the Meramac Valley Grotto.

 Mr. Gilster is survived by his wife, Carol, sons John and Tom (Laura), five grandchildren, his brother Jeff, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 Memorial suggested to American Cancer Society.
